5 Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Smile

At Dental Made Easy, we LOVE to see you smile and we believe that healthy mouths smile more often. That’s why we’ve put together a list of our top five tips you can use to get your mouth in tip top shape.

1. Brush Regularly and Properly

It is super important to brush your pearly whites at least twice a day, although, if you can brush after every meal, that would be best. To get the best brush possible you should be brushing for at least 2 minutes and making sure that you focus on all the sides of your teeth.

2. Keep a Healthy and Nutritious Diet

If you weren’t able to read our last blog post about the most nutritious foods for your teeth you can read it Here. Leafy greens, cheese, and apples are just a few of the food choices that will positively affect your oral health. Always remember, what you eat can have a direct link not only to your oral health but overall health.

3. Avoid Smoking

Did you know that after smoking daily for only a month your teeth can start to become discolored? Imagine the outcome after smoking for years! Not only is smoking bad for your overall health but it can lead to your teeth becoming permanently stained.

4. VISIT YOUR DENTIST!

The best advice we can give you to avoid costly dental procedures in the future is to visit your Dental Made Easy dentist every six months. Your dentist can detect oral health problems early and make recommendations on how to take care of it before any major health problems occur. The special cleanings that your dentist performs also give your teeth a deep cleaning to remove plaque.

5. Don’t Forget to Floss

Flossing is one of the best ways to avoid tartar build up, which in turn helps prevent gum disease. Most people skip flossing, but we want to reiterate to our patients how important it is to floss daily. It’s just as important as brushing your teeth!
